Our Story

About Golden 50 Music

Founded by musicians, for musicians. We exist to keep great instruments in the hands of players who love them.

Our Name & Heritage

A Tribute to the Golden Age of Saxophone

The name Golden 50 is first and foremost a tribute to the golden era of saxophone history. The 1950s marked a period when saxophone craftsmanship, tone, and design reached extraordinary maturity. In 1954, Selmer launched the Mark VI — a model that would go on to become the most iconic and revered saxophone in history.

For saxophonists, collectors, and repair technicians alike, the Mark VI is more than an instrument. It is a symbol: a representation of the peak of workmanship, tone, feel, balance, and instrument-making artistry.

To Golden 50, this name is not about nostalgia. It is a brand belief: every fine instrument has its golden state. Even when it becomes a pre-owned instrument, it deserves to be professionally inspected, refurbished, and adjusted so it can return to a condition that is trusted, playable, and cherished once again.

Golden 50 also marks a milestone for our founder — a moment when decades of experience in music, teaching, performance, repair, and life were brought together into one purpose. To him, an instrument has never been just an object. It is a vessel that carries sound, memory, effort, learning, and emotion.

That is why our mission is not simply to resell used instruments. It is to apply professional skill and a musician's perspective to bring every valuable instrument back to the condition it deserves.

Used instruments, professionally restored and ready to play.

This is the spirit of Golden 50: Bringing every instrument back to its golden moment.

What Drives Us

Mission & Values

We are not just selling instruments. We are preserving the craft and supporting the musicians who depend on them.

Craftsmanship First

Every instrument we sell or repair is treated with the same care a musician would give their own. We do not cut corners.

Honest Evaluation

Pre-owned instruments are inspected, play-tested, and priced fairly. Repairs are quoted transparently before any work begins.

Musician Community

We believe in building relationships, not transactions. Whether you are a student, educator, or professional, you belong here.

Sustainable Instruments

By restoring and reselling quality instruments, we extend their life and keep beautiful woodwinds out of landfills.

Instrument delivery

Our Model

Appointment-Based, Delivered to You

We do not have a physical store, and that is by design. Without the overhead of a retail space, we can invest more in quality repairs, fair pricing, and personal service.

Every interaction is by appointment — whether you are booking a repair drop-off, scheduling an instrument viewing, or arranging a collection. We come to you, or you come to us at a pre-arranged time.

For customers further away, we offer fully insured delivery. Each instrument is carefully packed, tracked, and insured so it arrives in the same condition it left.

This model works because our customers value quality and honesty over convenience. And we value the trust they place in us every single time.
